Fred Springer grew up in Tallahassee, Florida, and began studying classical guitar in high school under Ed Prasse. He earned a Bachelor's of Music Performance degree from the University of Texas at Austin, where he studied under Adam Holzman. Fred was active as a student, volunteer, and employee of the university, as well as Austin Classical Guitar, one of the country's leading arts and education non-profits. He performed both solo and chamber music regularly in Austin, through and for the university, with a charity called Symphony of Soul, and on his own; he served as a member of the University of Texas String Project his senior year, where he taught private lessons, conducted ensembles, taught musicianship classes, and established the Technique and Repertoire class for the guitar program. He now lives in Columbus, Georgia, where he studies as a graduate assistant in the Schwob School of Music, pursuing his Master's of Music with Dr. Andrew Zohn.
